Bring our strengths together.
Create a shared hub for Eritreans abroad and at home, where different skills contribute to one long-term ambition.
OUR ROOTS. OUR RESPONSIBILITY. OUR HORIZON.
Eritrean roots. Global experience.
A shared ambition to build lasting value at home.
OUR STORY
Our lives have taken us in different directions. Our connection to Eritrea brings us back to the same question: what can we build together?
Red Horizon is an Eritrean-led initiative bringing diaspora skills, international experience and local knowledge into one hub for responsible mineral development.
From geology and engineering to finance, law and business, we want to turn what we have learned abroad into capability and opportunity at home. Our ambition is to work alongside ENAMCO and experienced industry partners to help shape Eritrea’s mining future.
Our parents’ sacrifices brought us to this point. It is now our responsibility to help shape an Eritrea where our children, and their children, can build a future.
A connection we inherit.
A contribution we choose.
THE RED HORIZON FILM
Behind this journey are the Eritreans who helped us reach this point. Ahead are those whose experience and ideas will take it further.
One of them could be you.

THE MISSION
Our ambition is to connect people, knowledge and capital around responsible mineral development, with a lasting contribution to Eritrea at its heart.
Create a shared hub for Eritreans abroad and at home, where different skills contribute to one long-term ambition.
Build decisions on geological assessment, clear project rights and disciplined commercial analysis.
Pursue partnerships that value skills transfer, local participation and environmental and social responsibility.
Our goal is to reinvest a share of future returns into Eritrean skills, businesses and community priorities.
THE PRECEDENT / BISHA MINE
Bisha began commercial production on 22 February 2011. Its gold, copper, zinc and silver output puts Eritrea’s mining history into tangible terms.
Metal quantities valued at the dated prices shown below.
Copper and zinc: through 2025. Silver: 2025 only.
Gold: supplied estimate; production period unverified.
Illustrative gross metal values, before costs and sales deductions. They are not the mine’s revenue, profit, valuation or returns to Eritrea. Figures cover the stated periods, not a complete lifetime total for every metal.
One mine demonstrates scale.
Our ambition is to help build what comes next.
THE GEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
Ancient rocks. Shared across the Red Sea.
The geological foundation of Eritrea’s mineral potential.
The Arabian–Nubian Shield is a vast region of ancient bedrock exposed across northeast Africa and western Arabia. In geology, a “shield” is an area where the old crystalline rocks that form a continent’s foundation are visible at the surface.
Today, the Red Sea separates its two sides. The Nubian side extends through parts of Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia; the Arabian side includes much of western Saudi Arabia and parts of Yemen. These rocks share a geological history that began long before the sea opened.
Much of the Shield developed roughly 900–550 million years ago. Chains of volcanic islands and fragments of the Earth’s crust collided and joined together as the supercontinent Gondwana assembled.
Volcanic activity, mountain building and hot fluids moving through fractured rock helped concentrate metals. Different processes produced different deposits: gold in quartz veins, and copper–zinc deposits that can also contain gold and silver.
Eritrea sits within the African part of this mineral-bearing region. Bisha is a local example of a volcanic-associated massive sulphide deposit containing copper, zinc, gold and silver. It demonstrates that the country’s geological potential has translated into mining.
For exploration, this shared geology helps identify promising rock formations and structures. Mapping, sampling and drilling then establish the size, grade and continuity of each prospect.
ERITREA / A LONGER PERSPECTIVE
During Italian colonial rule, Eritrea was mapped and its mineral resources worked at sites including Augaro and Okreb. Those records form part of our mining history, but they were created under colonial administration, not an independent Eritrean state.
For Red Horizon, the next chapter must be about more than what leaves the ground. Our ambition is to bring Eritrean knowledge and international expertise together, build local skills and reinvest in the country, so mineral development creates lasting value for generations to come.
US$166mGross sale consideration · approximately A$240m
Danakali completed the sale of its 50% Colluli interest and shareholder loan to Sichuan Road and Bridge on 31 March 2023.
It later applied for the Ela Gedel gold and base-metal exploration licence in Eritrea. Executive Chairman Seamus Cornelius visited the application area in September 2024—a documented return to exploration interest in the country.
THE PEOPLE
A mission this ambitious needs more than one kind of expertise.
We are bringing together Eritreans and experienced professionals across technical, commercial and operational disciplines. The aim is to connect global experience with local knowledge and build the right team for the work ahead.
